IoT Product Development
End-to-end IoT product development for startups and scale-ups. From first schematic to certified production.
Insyght is a specialised IoT product development studio. We work with founders, corporate innovation teams, and hardware scale-ups who need to bring a connected product to market and need one team to handle the full stack.
Most IoT hardware projects follow the same fragmented path. A freelancer for the PCB. A separate agency for the enclosure. A software party for the app. Another for production in Asia. When something breaks (and it always does), nobody owns the problem. Timelines slip. Blame gets distributed. The product from the factory does not match the original vision.
We built Insyght because we have lived on both sides of that problem. Our team has worked on IoT products at scale, managed factories in Shenzhen, and seen what happens when hardware and software teams have never spoken to each other. We built an integrated studio specifically to eliminate that fragmentation.

Who We Work With
Hardware startups building their first connected product
You have a clear problem to solve and a working prototype, but you need a team to take it from prototype to something you can actually sell. You do not have a dedicated hardware engineer, firmware developer, and cloud architect on staff. We become that team.
Corporate innovation teams launching IoT pilots
You have budget, a use case, and internal stakeholders to convince. You need a development partner who can move quickly, communicate clearly, and deliver a working pilot within a realistic timeline.
Scale-ups transitioning to volume production
Your prototype works. Now you need to make 5,000 of them, certify them for Europe, and manage the factory ramp. We handle the transition: DFM review, tooling, test fixture design, factory qualification, and yield monitoring through Insyght Console.
Why Insyght
We are one of the few studios that combines industrial design with electronics engineering, firmware development, and IoT cloud under one roof. Most electronics firms are pure engineering shops: technically excellent, but without the design capability or cloud depth. Most design agencies cannot read a schematic. We sit at the intersection.
Our team is small by design: 8 people, all hands-on. You work directly with the engineers building your product, not an account manager. We have a quality engineer permanently on the ground in Shenzhen.
We also build and ship our own products. When we advise you on a trade-off, it is advice from engineers who have made that trade-off with their own money on the line.

The Insyght Console Advantage
Insyght Console is our proprietary device lifecycle management platform. From the factory floor, Console logs every test result against every serial number. In the field, it manages firmware OTA updates, device health telemetry, and user activity analytics. Built and operated by Insyght. Your product benefits from our ongoing development investment.
Frequently asked questions
What budget should I plan for custom hardware development?
For the custom connected products we discuss, Michaël often uses €50,000–€150,000 as an initial planning range based on experience. Some projects fall outside it. It is not a fixed quote or an all-in launch budget: agree the engineering scope, app and cloud work, prototypes, tooling, conformity assessment, first production and ongoing costs separately. We quote work in phases.
How long does a complete hardware development project take?
For the kind of custom product programmes we work on, six to twelve months is an initial planning indication, with some extending to eighteen months. Technical uncertainty, design iterations, tooling, component availability and conformity work affect the schedule. A first proof of concept can be much quicker; it does not establish that the finished product is ready.
What is the difference between PoC, EVT, DVT and PVT?
A proof of concept tests a critical assumption. EVT checks whether the engineering works as a system. DVT tests a representative design against the product requirements. PVT checks whether the production process can repeat the required quality. Stage names vary between companies, so we agree deliverables, tests and acceptance criteria for each project.
What does IoT product development at Insyght include?
The complete lifecycle under one roof: industrial design, PCB and RF hardware, embedded firmware, mobile and cloud software, certification, and manufacturing. One team takes your product from first concept to certified mass production, so there is no hand-off between separate vendors.
Do you work with startups or only established companies?
Both. We are a compact boutique used to being a startup's entire hardware department, and equally used to slotting into an established company's existing engineering organisation for a specific part of the build.
How is a project structured and priced?
We break every programme into clear stages with defined milestones and quote each stage, so you can commit incrementally instead of signing off one large number up front. You always know what the next deliverable and decision point is.
Can you take a product all the way to manufacturing?
Yes. We manage production from pilot to volume, including DFM review, custom test fixtures, and yield tracking through our Insyght Console platform, with an on-site engineer in Shenzhen for sourcing and factory qualification.
Where is Insyght based?
We are based in Delft, the Netherlands, with an on-site engineer in Shenzhen for component sourcing and manufacturing oversight.
Building a smart padel racket with sensors, an app, and AI feedback sounds straightforward… until you actually try to do it. Insyght took care of everything: the electronics, integrating it into the racket, the firmware, and the app. One team and full ownership. And honestly, just great people to work with.
